Finca Arboleda When We Arrived.

Ruubish to be cleared

Back in 2003, we decided to shake things up and move to Spain for a fresh start.

After just three visits, we found our dream home: the lovely Finca Arboleda. We bought the place in December and moved in on January 7th. The story continues here.

Discover Almería from within Andalucia.

Finca Arboleda is a safe retreat for a change of scenery.

If you live here, are on holiday or staying with friends in Andalucia this is the perfect time to discover Almeria.

Finca Arboleda is the perfect retreat for you. Set in 5000 square metres of mature gardens in the countryside but only 5 minutes  to Vera town and 10 mins to the coast.

We live here but the one bedroom apartment and the two bedroom villa are well equipped and totally self contained. Both have heating, TV and their own internet connection.

www.fincaarboleda.com will give you loads of information but just get in touch if you are interested.

You can even bring a dog if you like, we are fully fenced.

It would be rude not to.

Summer is made for a refreshing G&T, well any time of the year is really. We have a local gin that is made in Turre, Portomagno and of course all of your favourites are available locally. A choice of tonics is also very important.

There may be one thing that you can only find at Finca Arboleda and that is our wonderful organic lemons.

So book your flight. Book a stay at Finca Arboleda. Pick up some Gin,Tonic and ice in the supermarket and help yourself to a perfect lemon.

What are you waiting for?

Of course some people just enjoy fresh lemon squeezed into water in the morning, each to their own!

We’ve Got it All….

I woke up this morning with a great “Earworm” We’ve Got It all….

I know what triggered it, we had a dishwasher installed in the “Old Stables” yesterday. Our current guests are in fact two friends and their wives from primary school days and Richard joked that every time he stays at Finca Arboleda there has been some improvement. I joked “we’ve got it all” and walked off singing the well known Mott the Hoople song  We’ve got it all, you’ve broken every code”

Bowie and Ronson

So this morning the earworm has well and truly taken hold and it got me thinking about what we do have to offer in the Old Stables and what do you need on holiday whether it is a sun filled summer break or a long stay in the mild winter.

You almost certainly will want to check email and to post what a lovely time you are having to make your friends and family jealous and the dedicated internet connection is perfect for this. There is UK TV  and radio so you can keep in touch with Corrie, The news, your favourite morning radio and Match of the Day or you can leave it off if you prefer to enjoy the peace and quiet. Spanish TV is also there for you as well.

You certainly don’t want to be too hot and the Old Stables has ceiling fans and air conditioning. For the chilly winter  evenings there is central heating and the inverter heaters in the air con units. You will resent paying Ryanair for lots of hold luggage that you may not use and there is a large new Bosch washer if you need it. You will probably eat out as much as possible but when you do have an evening in the new dishwasher will take care of the washing up.

Of course there is a good quality shower, comfy beds and sofas. Outside there is a bbq and sunloungers and table and chairs. We’ve got it all…

The earworm  (An earworm, sometimes known as a brainworm, sticky music, or stuck song syndrome, is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person’s mind after it is no longer playing) needs to be exorcised and it was proving hard to find until I discovered the song is actually “Come up and see me” by Steve Harley, you remember it…. You’ve done it all…..

A wonderful stay. We would highly recommend.

Beach HolidayWe had a fabulous stay.

The accommodation was great. Very well equipped, very clean and lots of attention to detail. We would highly recommend if you want peace, quiet and comfort. The area is also lovely with lots of places and beaches to explore. Eating fresh figs every morning and picking lemons for a gin and tonic in the evening… What more could you ask for. The owners were also great and very helpful.

N&D just left “The Old Stables” after a 2 week stay and posted this review here.

A Few Words From happy Guests

Just a few words from a happy couple who left the Orange Grove yesterday.

La casa està genial,un entorno muy tranquilo y una piscina con el agua buenísima, tanto que dan ganas de pasarte el día ahí metido. La casa también muy completa, tal y como se describe. Sin duda repetiré. Azahara, from Airbnb

The house is great, a very quiet environment and a pool with very good water , so much so that it makes you want to spend the day there. The house also very complete and as described. I will definitely return.

100th Review Received

Celebrating 100 Great ReviewsWow! we have just received our 100th guest review on our own independently hosted guest book.

We had stopped using the guest book for a while as listing sites like Owners Direct, Spain Holiday, Trip Advisor pressure it’s clients to get guests to post reviews  and we are very aware that people returning from their holiday have better things to do than post multiple reviews. There are more than 100 more reviews scattered around the web but our own guest book is the one that stays with us.

A big thank you to all the guests who have taken the trouble to review us over the last 11 years. I’m going to look at some of the early ones but they are all here if you are interested http://tinyurl.com/yc98pex
