When we bought Finca Arboleda nearly 13 years ago we celebrated with a lunch at El Perejil, we hadn’t been back for no particular reason. Anyway it’s almost time to pick our olives and we normally go to Lubrin but a neighbour suggested we try a new press near Pulpi so we went to check it out. On the way we passed El Perejil and decided we would stop for lunch on the way back. We arrived at about 13.20 a little early for the Spanish but there were a few people having Tapas at the bar and it looked quite inviting but we decided to opt for the Menu del Dia, there is also an Al la carte option.
So what did we get for our Menu? A friendly waitress took our drinks order and gave us small menus and a rather dull small baguette with no butter or plate, I tried to break it up and pour olive oil on it which leaked over the table, you can’t take me anywhere! We ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce and the rustic soup with both of us following with pork chops from the bbq. Both the starters were ample in size and very tasty, the pork chops were served with only saute potatoes, no veg but we had two each and they were thick and juicy not the overcooked dry specimens you sometimes get. There were 5 options for mains and starters, I don’t remember there being a vegetarian option. Feeling more than satisfied we opted for the light option of home made chocolate mousse.
We only had water to drink and the total bill was 20€, it wasn’t spectacular but well cooked and served and the menu del dia section was almost full when we left, can’t fault it really. It brought back a few fantastic memories and made us wonder where 13 years have gone, happy days.
