Wikipedia tells us..Amigurumi (編みぐるみ?, lit. crocheted or knitted stuffed toy) Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a portmanteau of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. In the west are called Amigurumi, which are the original phonetics of 編みぐるみ in Japanese language. Amigurumis vary in size and there are no restrictions about size or look. While Amigurumi has been known in Japan for several decades, Amigurumi first started appealing to the masses in other countries, especially in the West, in 2003. By 2006, amigurumi were reported to be some of the most popular items on Etsy, an online craft marketplace, where they typically sold for $10 to $100. Since then, popularity has continued to increase.

We visited the Gastro fair on Saturday. It was a glorious afternoon in the lovely setting of El Palmeral and it was very well supported with up to a 1000 people there. To be honest I’m pretty rubbish at estimating crowds so it may have been less! There were about 20 food stalls there from various local restaurants as well as beer tents and a few bodegas.
There were also cookery demonstrations and live music. It is certainly worth a visit if they repeat it later in the year.
17,18 and 19 February in the park El Palmeral in Vera.
Vera offers a festival for all employers in the food, crafts and culture, who will share their specialties with all visitors coming to the Fair “El Palmeral”, on the 17,18 and 19 February 2017, during the First Edition of GASTROANDALUCIA. Popular tastings, craft exhibitions, food festivals, dances … and for the little ones a children’s gastronomic competition; will be some of the activities that will complement the fair.
Karst topography is a landscape formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone, dolomite, and gypsum. It is characterized by underground drainage systems with sinkholes and caves.
The caves at Sorbas are some of the best preserved and are open for tours of different difficulty depending on the individual. As someone who is a little claustrophobic I’m happy to hear about your adventures and post your pictures here.
There is a web site with details here.
This years 3 Kings parade starts on Thursday 5th January from the town hall at 17,00.
